Remembering Long Point: A Panel Discussion with Varujan Boghosian and Member-Artists
In conjunction with the exhibition, Long Point: An Artists' Place,
curated by Mary E. Abell, Ph.D., four of the founding artist members
will discuss their experiences over the 21 years that they were members
of the prominent, cooperative gallery (1977- 1998)
Join Varujan Boghosian, Carmen Cicero, Edward Giobbi and Paul Resika for a panel discussion on the renowned gallery.
Long Point was founded by, run by and subsidized by the gallery's member-artists. They curated and hung their own shows, planned the openings, designed the announcements cards, organized parties, and hired a director to maintain gallery hours and handle organizational responsibilities. Regular meetings kept everyone abreast of gallery business. Historically, Long Point is important because of the reputation of its artists, its longevity, and its positive impact on the Provincetown art scene. It is particularly renowned for the harmony and camaraderie among its members.
